Minutes 3/30/11 -Secretary was not present, notes taken by Rachel Hess & Jen Deluhery Approval of Feb. minutes, motion made by Jay, 2nd by Jen
-Treasurer: Financial doc of February is online to view We need to sustain 40 members to keep afloat and be saving $ also. Will be advertising mid-term discount to attract new members.
-Membership: Not present nothing to report. *could current member list be be sent out to individual members as well as available in the studio?
-Glaze: A fake celadon replacement sample tile was shown; currently our “fake celadon” is not widely used and rather dull looking. Might be an alternative once current bucket runs out, will not be making the new celadon until the old runs out. Suggestion of using expansion rate test to be sure it will fit properly on our clay was mentioned and encouraged.
-Firing: Things are swell! More shelves coming with clay order on Friday Be careful glazing as we will begin flipping shelves and not using kiln wash in hopes to reduce warping of shelves. Kristi’s kiln is in place, need a $75 plug to finish it; will be good for “unique” cone firings Will be placing an order with Amaco in the first week of April, encouraged to check out the catalog and tell Jay if there is anything you would like to purchase **SATURDAY of Boneyard, special glaze firing kiln opening will be advertised and all pieces in kiln will be for immediate sale, shelf to be set aside for this---please pre price if possible!!
Clay: Order will arrive sometime on Friday 4/1: Rachel is main contact for driver and will be calling for backup as soon as she knows when the delivery is going to arrive.
Clean Up: Not present, no new news *please clean the studio use tools and bat better before putting them away, a friendly reminder from those at the meeting tonight!!* *Purposed all club cleaning day for sometime in August?!*
Website: Updated front page to reflect Boneyard Hours, after Boneyard will change to advertise discount rate for mid-term joiners Still one reference to Springer Center that should be removed As always, if you have photos of your work you would like on the website, please email them to Bev.
Sales: Some price changes to reflect the higher quality of work and fair market prices have been made. Need more donations for upcoming sales!! Boneyard sign up was at meeting and is still online, come in and work on clay, have some fun!! Please fill out bio sheets to have available for customer info at upcoming sales.
Presidents Report: Vineyard church was very generous and a great experience—gave an extra $200 for my time and effort, for a total of $500 directly to the club.
*Request to have May meeting moved to June 1 due to holiday weekend and travel, all present agreed. *Be sure room reservation can be moved!
We are confirmed for Taste of Champaign- June 17-19. We will be in the normal vending area with a 12x12 booth; no raku or electricity for a wheel, so hand building is welcome and encourage while you work your shift! We will also need some folks to get together during May to make display units for the Taste, given our small booth size we must maximize vertical space and get creative with booth design!
Taxes are almost ready to file and will be done before due date.
Motion (Jenny, 2nd Amber) : The club will not accept memberships for a time period less than one month unless they are an escorted guest of a current member.
Old Business:
Individual sales: Purposed meeting dates for sub-committee to discuss and draft the appendix for this: Monday 4/18 at 6pm Monday 4/28 at 7pm. Those interested, please email preferred meeting date to Rachel @
Studio Guest Policy Phil will be revising our waiver form, so we can allow current members to "sponsor" guests in the studio
