Standing Committee reports:
Firing- Lid is replaced, sealing rope ordered. Elements and thermocouples will need replaced soon. Coating will be put on lid surface when firing slows down to allow for same. Shelves are being reorganized. Please use priority shelf for bisque or glaze pieces that need priority firing. Fire extinguisher will be relocated to prominent location. New committee member- Amy Byrum.
Glaze- Glazes are low. New will be made soon. Jay advised Bev on use of hydrometer for specific gravity. This may help with Randy's Red which is a difficult glaze.
Clay- Order has been sent and should arrive next week. 36 boxes of red, 6 of white. Will need unloading help when order arrives. Weather will be considered in timing and size of next order. Issue of clay usage amounts discussed and decision (by vote of members present) made to chart individual usage for the calendar month of October. A chart will be placed in studio for each member to record the weight of clay used at each session in the studio. Please weigh the amount taken out and the amount returned after working for the final amount used, and then record this number. The intent is to establish average usage by members for the purpose of estimating costs and order amounts.
Clean up and maintenance - All but 4 members have been through studio re-orientation. Committee duties are being re-organized. Will add duties of cleaning stairs and floor vents. Linda reminds members to let their committee chairs know if they are leaving the club or if they will be absent for a period of time which would affect their club work responsibilities.
Web site- If you are not receiving emails it may be because you did not complete the steps Google requires to verify that you want to be added to the Google list for the club. This is a new Google requirement and should not affect members already on the Google list. See Bev if you are not receiving emails.

Sales- Thank you Paul for building a new table with shelf for the sales area.

President's report- Urbana Adult Ed is interested in continued ceramics classes as there is a long waiting list from the first class sign-up. This will be discussed at Oct. meeting when there is more information about how this class is going. Decision must be made by Thanksgiving.

Old Business: --Adult Ed class update- First class held Tuesday, Sept. 27 and well received.
--Guest Policy- Jay makes a motion to change the by-laws to say that members can bring in guests. This will be voted on at Oct.2011 meeting. Email discussion will continue this month in hopes of having a framework for fees/ clay usage by that meeting. A revised waiver form has been created by Lynn.
--Raku firing update- Firing committee hopes to have an extra member assigned to handle Raku. A Raku firing will be planned for spring 2012.
--Holiday sale update- We will participate in the Lincoln Square holiday sales on Dec. 3 and 10. Set up begins at 7 a.m., sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by take down and return of pieces to studio. Preliminary sign up was done at the meeting with further sign up to be available in studio or on line.
--Individual sales- Jay proposes a bylaw change to delete section B, number 8 under "Rules". This would remove the requirement for giving the club a percentage of money received for an individual sale. The change will be voted on at the October meeting.

New Business:
--Cathy and Laura have discussed a CU Potters' Club T-shirt and are willing to create one or two prototypes for consideration at the next meeting.
